Concrete Replacement Applications Across Toronto Properties

Old concrete fails in different ways. Cracks. Heaving. Sinking. Flaking. We’ve seen it all.

We replace concrete on all types of residential properties across Toronto. Here’s what we usually work on:

  • Driveways that are cracked, uneven, or past repair
  • Front steps that feel unsafe or look worn down
  • Garage floors with major cracks or surface damage
  • Porches that have sunk or started to pull away from the house
  • Backyard patios with rough, broken surfaces
  • Walkways that are chipped or shifting from frost heave
  • Concrete slabs that have been patched too many times

If you’ve got any of these on your property, we can remove the old and pour new. No guesswork. No cover-ups.

What Makes Our Concrete Replacement System Different in Toronto

Concrete replacement takes more than just pouring cement. The results depend on how the job is handled from start to finish.

  • We prepare the site the right way. That means checking the slope, ground condition, and how water moves across the area.
  • We match the concrete to the job. A driveway, porch, and garage floor each need different strength and thickness.
  • We reinforce with the right materials. Rebar, mesh, and fiber help the slab hold up under pressure.
  • We avoid poor timing. Cold snaps, rain, and quick drying can cause cracks. We plan pours around the weather.
  • We finish and seal the surface. Joints are placed early. Edges are shaped clean. The slab is sealed for protection.

This is what sets our work apart. No filler work. No quick jobs. Just solid concrete that’s meant to last.

How We Handle Every Concrete Replacement Project

We don’t guess our way through a job. Every replacement follows a clear process from start to finish. No matter if it’s a porch, a driveway, or a garage floor—we follow the same steps to make sure it holds up over time.

Initial Visit and Site Evaluation

We visit the site to look at the ground, the slope, and how water moves through. This helps us plan the pour from the start.

Choosing the Right Mix and Reinforcement

Each job gets a specific mix. We adjust the PSI and the reinforcement depending on what the slab will support.

Demolition and Subbase Preparation

We remove the old slab, clear loose fill, then compact a strong base. It has to be solid before the new concrete goes in.

Pouring and Finishing the New Concrete

We pour the slab, level it, and add clean edges. Joints are cut early to help stop cracks before they form.

Curing and Sealing the Surface

We allow the slab to cure fully. Then we apply a seal to block moisture and slow down wear.

Post-Installation Clean-Up and Client Walkthrough

We clean the space and walk you through what we did. You’ll know what to expect and how to take care of the new slab.

Why Concrete Replacement Is Worth It in Toronto

Concrete doesn’t just fail on the surface. When the ground shifts, water seeps in, or years of wear build up, the real damage happens underneath. That’s why patching the top doesn’t always solve the problem.

Replacing your concrete fixes the root of it. A full replacement resets the base, improves drainage, and matches the right strength mix to the right surface. It’s not just a cosmetic job—it keeps your space safe and stable over time.

In Toronto, where freeze-thaw cycles cause heaving and surface erosion, the type of replacement you choose matters. It’s worth knowing what kind of concrete is suited to local conditions. The City of Toronto’s guidelines on paving and construction near homes offer helpful insight into that.

You’ll also want to check if your project needs a building permit before starting. Some types of concrete work fall under regulated changes, especially if you’re altering the grade or replacing large areas connected to drainage systems.

Thinking long term also means knowing how your concrete will handle salt, water, or vehicle traffic. You can review Toronto’s winter maintenance tips for more on how the city manages surface wear through the seasons.

What Homeowners Across Toronto Are Saying About Our Replacements

Most of the people we work with heard about us from someone they know. A neighbor. A relative. A friend who had their driveway or steps redone and told them, “Call these guys.”

That means a lot to us. It means the job lasted. It looked good. It felt solid underfoot. That kind of feedback tells us we’re doing it right.

Chimney Replacement And Tuckpointing

I was extremely pleased with the service I received from A&A. They played a critical role in completing a necessary multi-stage project on my home.

I needed to replace a worn out chimney before I could replace my shingles which had begun to leak, so I needed masonry services quickly. I had received several estimates from other well-reviewed companies, but none of them would commit to doing the job in a time frame which would allow my overall project to be completed before the storm season arrived. I was thrilled when the booking agent at A&A was able to communicate with one of his crews while I was on the line, and arrange to have them at my home the following morning, with a competitive quote for the chimney and tuckpointing work I required.

The crew was friendly, respectful, and clean, and did excellent quality work, which was completed in 2 days, allowing me to book the second stage of my project.

I would be pleased to recommend A&A Masonry to anyone.

Brickwork Repair/Replace

Repair of brick spalling, about 50 bricks. A & A was fast replying, from their estimate to complete less than a week.

Job was perfect, can’t tell repair from original work. Hard to find a small job contractor that knows what he is doing, thank you A & A.

Parging Inside Garage Foundation & Brick Replacement

Another great experience from my go-to masonry company. In April I noticed a white material on inside the garage on the foundation and I was worried that it would compromise the integrity of the foundation.

Greg and Joe informed me that it was efflorescence. Joe used hydraulic cement to parge one whole side and and the portion of the other side that was affected and educated me on the product he used and why it will help with the issue. He also replaced a few cracked bricks in my garage centre column and pointed them as well.

In addition he caulked my side door to prevent water from getting in behind the bricks so that it doesn’t lead to further issues in the garage.

As on past projects, he was personable, professional, and very thorough. His work is of the highest quality and it just makes me feel so good that I can call A&A whenever I have any masonry issues or projects and know what results I’m going to get.

FAQs About Concrete Replacement in Toronto

It depends on the scope. Replacing a driveway or changing the grade might need a permit. The City of Toronto’s permit page has full details based on property type and project size.

It depends on what you’re replacing and how big the job is. According to HomeStars, the average cost for concrete work in Toronto is around $8,555, with projects ranging from $100 to over $50,000. Decorative work runs slightly lower on average at $5,642, but that depends on the finish and design.

A typical job takes 2 to 5 days from demo to final clean-up. Curing time comes after that, but you’ll usually be able to walk on it after 2 days and drive over it within a week.

Sometimes. If the surface damage is minor and the base is stable, we’ll let you know. But if the cracks go deep or the slab has sunk, patching will only delay a full replacement.

We use ready-mix concrete tailored to the surface and usage. Driveways and garage floors get higher PSI mixes than patios or walkways. We also consider freeze-thaw performance, especially for exposed areas.

Yes. Replacing concrete stairs often means forming and pouring each step carefully, especially if the stairs connect to a porch or foundation wall. It’s more detailed than a flat slab and needs reinforcement to meet safety standards.

In some cases, yes, but it’s a much bigger structural job. Replacing a wood foundation with concrete involves excavation, structural review, and permitting. It’s not part of regular surface replacement, but we can refer you to contractors who do that level of work.

We do. Garage floors take more stress, so we use higher PSI mixes and proper base compaction to make sure they hold up under weight. For indoor or shed slabs, we also check moisture and vapor barriers before pouring.

Yes, we handle concrete porch replacement and front step rebuilds across Toronto. We remove the old structure, prepare the base, and form new concrete to match your home’s layout.
