Basement Concrete Floors in Toronto Built to Last
When you want a solid floor for your basement, concrete is the smart move. It handles weight, holds up to moisture, and gives you a clean surface that lasts for years.
At A&A Concrete, we install basement concrete floors in Toronto that don’t crack under pressure—literally or financially. Every slab we pour follows Ontario’s standards and meets the needs of real homeowners, not just blueprints.
We’ve been doing this since 2008. With over 800 reviews and 15 HomeStars awards, we know how to get it right the first time. Whether it’s a new build or you’re replacing an old slab, we’re ready.
What a Basement Concrete Floor Means for Your Toronto Home
A basement floor isn’t just something you walk on. It’s part of your home’s structure. If it fails, the rest of your space feels it.
A properly poured concrete basement floor gives you a stable base for everything—storage, finishing, or just a cleaner, drier space. It handles foot traffic, supports heavy equipment, and resists wear better than wood or tile in below-grade spaces.
In Toronto homes, basements face moisture, temperature swings, and long winters. That’s why we don’t cut corners. We build each basement new concrete floor to handle local conditions, so you won’t be dealing with cracks or soft spots later.
Why Property Owners in Toronto Rely on A&A for Basement Concrete Floors
Toronto has plenty of concrete contractors. Most are either fast or cheap. Few are consistent. We’re different.
At A&A Concrete, a division of A&A Masonry, we’ve spent over 15 years earning trust across the GTA. We don’t just pour and go. We check your space, plan around how you’ll use it, and handle every step with care. No shortcuts. No last-minute surprises.
We’ve won the HomeStars award 15 times. We’ve got 800+ real reviews from homeowners who paid for quality and got results. When you hire us to install a basement concrete floor in Toronto, you’re hiring experience—not guesswork.
How Toronto Homes Use Basement Concrete Floors Every Day
Basement floors don’t all serve the same purpose. Some carry water heaters and laundry machines. Others support home gyms, workshops, or entire finished living areas. Concrete gives you the strength and flexibility to handle all of that.
We work on everything from plain slabs to painted concrete basement floors that brighten up a space. Need a smooth, level surface for vinyl or laminate? We do that too. Polished concrete basement floors work great for low-maintenance setups. And if your surface is uneven, we handle basement leveling for concrete floors before anything gets poured.
Toronto homes are built in all shapes and sizes. We make sure your concrete basement floor fits how you live—not just how it looks.
Different Basement Concrete Floor Applications Across Toronto Homes
Concrete floors give Toronto homeowners a lot of flexibility when upgrading or finishing basements. Some want smooth, polished surfaces that reflect light. Others need practical flooring over uneven slabs. We’ve worked with all of it.
Here’s what we handle:
- Painted concrete basement floors for utility spaces or budget-friendly upgrades
- Polished concrete basement floors for low-maintenance, modern finishes
- Basement leveling for concrete floors to correct slopes, dips, or damaged surfaces
- Finished concrete basement floors for clean, long-lasting results
- Flooring options over concrete like vinyl, laminate, or engineered wood
These are common in basement renovations and upgrades where you need a stable, sealed surface. We also handle moisture barriers to keep everything dry and secure from the start.
What Our Basement Floor Process Looks Like From Start to Finish
We don’t wing it. Every basement needs a slightly different approach depending on the space, the condition of the subfloor, and how you plan to use it. So we follow a step-by-step process that gets it right from day one.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or fixing an old slab, we prep, pour, and finish your floor using best practices that meet Ontario Building Code standards. We check surface levels, apply the right slab thickness, and use mixes designed for below-grade environments.

Why a Proper Concrete Basement Floor Pays Off Over Time
A lot of basement floors in Toronto fail early because they weren’t built to match the home or the soil. Some crack. Some shift. Others trap moisture and become hard to live with. Fixing those issues later costs more than doing it right the first time.
We build each basement concrete floor to match real conditions—slab thickness, drainage, and long-term use. That includes adding moisture protection and leveling off weak subfloors before we even pour. A solid slab gives you fewer cracks, less movement, and fewer mold issues over time.
If you’re dealing with slab cracks already, it’s worth checking if there’s pressure under the floor. The City of Toronto’s Basement Flooding Protection Program offers insights on managing underground water and drainage.
And if you’re planning renovations, Ontario’s Building Code lays out clear basement construction standards that affect thickness, drainage slope, and insulation.
We follow those standards because shortcuts don’t save you money—they create more repair work later. A proper concrete floor avoids the cost of patches, mold control, or full tear-outs down the line.

Waterproofing Basement
We hired A & A Masonry to waterproof our basement. We were promised that the work would be done within the next 2 weeks. True to their word, they were ready to begin about 5 days after the contract was signed.
The work took a day and a half to complete. The workers were unobtrusive, answered our questions satisfactorily, cleaned up well and did good quality work, all at a reasonable cost.
We had a sump pump installed and are now applying to the city for a rebated of approximately $1800.

Basement Project
I approached this company for my basement work going by the outstanding reviews in HOME STARS. I was also quite impressed with their effort to live by the Clients’ charter of rights which they have on their website. Well, I must say that I am more than pleased with my choice and quite impressed with their work ethic. Throughout I felt very comfortable dealing with them. I am truly impressed with their willingness to go the extra mile to make sure that the customer is satisfied in every respect and that includes the quality of the work. I am very pleased to recommend A and A Masonry to anyone looking for a professional to do Masonry related work. It is no exaggeration to say that I have not come across a company such as A and A Masonry in a long long time so very willing to satisfy all of the customer needs and make every effort to meet and exceed the customer’s expectations. I must in particular mention Andy the Project Manager for all the support that I received.

FAQs
Common Questions About Basement Concrete Floors in Toronto
How do I level a concrete basement floor before finishing it?
We grind down high spots, fill in low ones with a cement-based mix, and confirm it with a laser level before the pour. This keeps your flooring stable and avoids dips over time.
What’s the best way to clean a concrete floor in the basement?
Sweep it dry. Use a neutral pH cleaner with a mop if sealed. Avoid bleach or acid cleaners unless your floor was specifically treated for them.
Are cracks in basement concrete floors normal?
Hairline cracks can happen due to shrinkage, especially in the first year. Wider or growing cracks might mean movement or pressure underneath. That’s when we inspect.
How much does it cost to install a basement concrete floor in Toronto?
It depends on size, prep, and finish. A simple slab is more affordable than one that needs leveling, patching, or decorative finishes. We give clear quotes after a site visit.
How thick should a basement concrete floor be?
Most slabs fall between 100 mm to 150 mm (4 to 6 inches), depending on use. If you plan to add heavy appliances or finish the space, we may recommend a thicker pour.
